Center for Cybersecurity – Cybersecurity Awareness Month
The Center for Cybersecurity has been a Cyber Security Alliance champion of Cybersecurity Awareness Month since 2018. Cybersecurity Awareness Month was established in 2004 by the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance. Held every October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online. The Center for Cybersecurity hosts several events throughout the month of October, such as Cybersecurity Day, the Cybersecurity Film Series, and the BSides Peoria cybersecurity conference.
Cybersecurity Day
In conjunction with Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the Center for Cybersecurity has hosted a Cybersecurity Day in October since 2018. The event is open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
Cybersecurity Film Series
In 2019, the Center for Cybersecurity began highlighting important cybersecurity issues through documentary films as part of its inaugural Cybersecurity Film Series. Films are shown throughout October in conjunction with Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
BSides Peoria

IThe Center for Cybersecurity has hosted the cybersecurity conference at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ since its establishment by the in 2023. ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ faculty, staff, and students established the Physical Security Village in 2025, providing attendees with a safe way to explore various vulnerabilities in locks, safes, and doors. In 2026, the center launched the to spread social engineering awareness.
