Title IX and Sexual Misconduct

The Office of Title IX Compliance coordinates ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½’s response to reports of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, discrimination based on sex, pregnancy or related conditions, and retaliation.
You may contact the Office of Title IX Compliance to make a report, ask a question, request supportive measures, learn about resolution options, or seek assistance for yourself or someone else.

Report Sexual Misconduct or Sex Discrimination
Anyone may report conduct that may violate ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½’s Title IX Policy, including a student, employee, applicant, visitor, parent, witness, or other third party. You may report something that happened to you or someone else. You do not need to know whether the conduct meets a legal or policy definition before contacting us.
Submitting a report does not automatically begin a formal complaint process, require a report to police, or require participation in an investigation. The Title IX Coordinator will review the information, assess safety, explain rights and options, and discuss available supportive measures and resolution paths when contact is possible.
Use ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½’s . You may omit your name and contact information. After every submission, the form displays immediate rights-and-options information. If you provide your own email address and tell us it is safe to use, the same information will also be emailed to you.

A person affected by sexual misconduct or sex discrimination has the right to receive clear information about available choices, including:
Supportive measures are individualized services intended to restore or preserve access to ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½’s programs and activities. They may be available without a formal complaint and are not disciplinary sanctions.

Confidential and Private Resources
Confidential Resources
Confidential resources generally do not share identifying information with the Title IX Office without permission, except when required by law or professional obligations. Confidentiality applies when the person is acting within the scope of the confidential role.
Private, but not confidential
Reports to the Office of Title IX Compliance, ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ Police, and most other University employees are private but not confidential. Information is shared only with people who need it to provide support, assess safety, implement measures, conduct a University process, or comply with law. Most ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ employees must promptly share possible policy violations with the Title IX Coordinator.

Understanding Reporting Roles
A person may hold more than one role. The person’s reporting duty and ability to maintain confidentiality depend on the role in which information is received.

Most ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ employees must promptly share possible conduct prohibited by policy with the Title IX Coordinator. They should not promise confidentiality. |

Campus Security Authorities |
Report specified Clery Act crimes to the institution for campus-safety and statistical responsibilities. |
|
Mandated reporters of child abuse or neglect |
Make reports required by the Illinois Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act when the legal standard is met. |

Confidential advisors and confidential professionals |
Provide confidential support within the scope of their role, subject to limited legal and professional exceptions. |

External Civil-Rights Agencies
A person may contact an external agency in addition to, or instead of, using ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½’s internal process. Agency deadlines and jurisdiction rules apply. Federal education-discrimination complaints may still be filed through the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. The Department of Justice is also listed as a federal resource.
