CARLINVILLE, IL – It was all offense and errors for both sides in the Lincoln Christian University (LCU) vs Blackburn College baseball showdown Tuesday, as the two teams combined for 22 hits, 17 runs, and 10 errors in the affair. It took two extra innings, but Blackburn scored one final time in the bottom of the 11th to win the game 9-8.

The Red Lions outscored Blackburn 6-3 through three innings and scored another in both the seventh and eighth, but gave up three in the fifth and two in the eighth before the winning run in the bottom of the 11th.

Logan Todd (SO/Jacksonville, IL) led the way offensively for LCU, collecting four hits on the day including two doubles. Brock Trexler (JR/Pana, IL) and Garrett Aeilts (FR/Lincoln, IL) each had two hits – Trexler nailed a double and Aeilts legged out a triple – while Jake Woods (FR/Lincoln, IL), Spencer Thomas (JR/Maryville, IL), and Jordan Fredeking (JR/Fairview Heights, IL) all had one.

Six errors hurt Lincoln Christian, and resulted in two unearned runs out of Blackburn's nine. Trexler and Warner combined to throw 10 innings. The pair struck out 13 and walked four while giving up 11 hits and seven earned runs. Warner took the loss.

"It was a tough loss, we battled the whole game," Fredeking said. "I thought Brock and Lance did a great job throwing strikes and making them put the ball in lay, we just didn't back them up on defense."

The loss brings LCU's season record to 4-14.
